About Triangulo

General

Triangulo offers a variety of group classes at a range of levels. This ensures that whatever your background may be—whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced tanguero/a, we offer classes that will strengthen your foundation, enrich your technique, and enhance your repertoire of steps.

Our highly qualified instructors strive to create a fun, challenging, and supportive environment in every class.

In addition to classes and private lessons, Triangulo hosts three milongas and one practica per week to support your social dancing habit.

History

Triangulo first opened its doors in 1997, and many dancers fondly remember walking the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District to get to the original location of the studio above the Two Flags Butcher Supply Co. The triangular space inspired Triangulo’s name, which Carina kept when she moved the studio to its current location on West 20th Street.

As the New York tango community has grown, Triangulo has remained a destination of choice for visiting dancers and New York based dancers alike.  It maintains its reputation as a warm and welcoming studio where students–old and new– come to learn, practice, and hang out.  Indeed, the love and care with which the studio has been constructed (the mural painted and donated by a former student, the bar and cabinets built and refinished by another, the coat racks fortified by another) is palpable and present in the classes and events conducted here.

And Triangulo is grateful for all that its students have given back.
