El caminito–the walk. They say a great dancer needs to walk the floor for a year to establish a foundation for their dance… And yet, we rush to the dancefloor because we are drawn to el abrazo, the mysterious and somewhat intimitating tango embrace. Walking and embrace are the foundation, the DNA of tango. For half of this class we will work without a partner, exploring our individual physicality as we walk (forwards & backwards), pivot, turn and change directions.
The second half will explore how our movement changes when partnering. Partnered exercises, rather than steps & sequences, will cultivate the relaxed power necessary to allow this difficult dance to flow. These are elements that we can spend a lifetime cultivating and the class is open to dancers of all levels.
PRE-REQUISITE: Two month of Beginner Series. No partner necessary.
This class will review the basics and fundamentals that were introduced in Beginner, but the music we will dance to is Tango-Vals, the famous “one-two-three” waltz rhythm set to tango instrumentation and danced in tango embrace.
