Advanced Beginners Course

In this course it’s assumed you’re familiar with the basic figures of

Argentine Tango. In this 4 week course we are going to take a deep dive

into the essential elements of the dance and movement in general. I will

introduce techniques and concepts that, once learned, will make you a well

balanced dancer equipped with the knowledge and tools to excel.

Key Elements we will explore include:

• Axis - How to manage your own and being aware of your partners.

• Rhythms - There are five fundamental Rhythms we use.

• Contact & Connections - This includes the person you're dancing

with but also includes how you use the floor. The floor is one of the

only tools we have as dancers outside our own body.

• Embrace - The Embrace is its own dance within a dance.

• Sequences - This includes an order of operations for our physical

movements and the limitless ways we can piece steps together to

create patterns.

• Communicate - Either through Touch, Vision, Body Weight, Tension

& Timing, Communication is super essential in partner dancing.

Argentine Tango has Idiosyncrasies in how to communicate and conduct oneself.

• Movement (Lateral, Forward, Back & Rotational. Used to a lesser degree Rising and Falling).

These elements are the underlying mechanisms and understandings that

will allow you generate your unique style, your own dance.
