You know what you are doing.
Tuesdays 7pm to 8:30pm with Carina
Intermediate Argentine Tango Designed for dancers with a solid foundation in Argentine tango fundamentals, this class will help you add subtlety, confidence, and sophistication to your dance while keeping movements comfortable and elegant for both partners.
March is Boleo Month:
A boleo in Argentine tango is not merely a leg action — it is a kinetic consequence of interrupted rotation.
At its most refined, the boleo emerges from torsional elasticity within the dancer’s axis. When rotational energy is initiated and then redirected or suspended, the body releases that stored torque through the free leg. The leg does not act independently; it is the visible echo of what occurred in the embrace.
The Mechanics Beneath the Aesthetic
A sophisticated boleo is built on:
Dissociation between upper and lower body
Elastic containment of rotational energy
Precision in timing of redirection
Stable axis and grounded standing leg
The leader proposes rotation. The follower organizes the pivot. If the rotation is abruptly altered, the stored spiral in the hips releases — and the free leg traces a circular path as a natural rebound.
The leg is not lifted. It is released.
