"Following" in Tango is an active role. The follower is actively reacting to the lead, interpreting it, and responding in a way that maintains the flow of the dance. The art of "following" is to be receptive but also present and aware.

You can lead the follower into the cruce (cross) while in cross system — this changes the dynamics of the movement, creates a different body alignment, and opens up transitions into turns, boleos, or other patterns.
